Tanjung Priok (Jakarta) vs. Tanjung Perak (Surabaya)
- Tanjung Priok — higher sailing frequency to EU, Middle East, and US East Coast routes; typically the faster option for Gulf and European buyers, but more prone to congestion delays during peak export season (July-September)
- Tanjung Perak — better connectivity to East Asia and Australia; often the shorter inland trucking distance for cooperatives based in Central and East Java, which can offset a longer ocean leg with a shorter pre-shipment lead time
- Nusawara consolidates coconut sugar lots at whichever port is closer to the source cooperative, then advises the buyer which port and route combination gets their specific order there fastest — we don't default to one port regardless of destination
Realistic transit time ranges
From either port, plan on 18-25 days ocean transit to Middle East ports (Jebel Ali, Jeddah), 25-35 days to Northern Europe (Rotterdam, Hamburg), and 30-40 days to US East Coast — all before adding 5-10 days of pre-shipment lead time for lot consolidation, quality testing, and documentation. Peak season (July-September, aligned with the coconut sugar harvest cycle) can add 5-7 days to any of these ranges due to port congestion and vessel space competition.
